TODAY IS THE 16 YEAR YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE LA RIOTS. A COUPLE WEEKS AGO I RANDOMLY POSTED SOMETHING ABOUT RODNEY KING NOT REALIZING THE ANNIVERSARY WAS COMING UP. HERES A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THAT CRAZY DAY IN LA. I WAS 16 YEARS OLD WHEN IT HAPPENED & IF I LIVED IN LA THEN I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOOTING ALL THAT RAIDER GEAR.

I'm doing my thesis project on police brutality. The thing is, when the uprisings occurred, it happened as a form of resistance and expression. Just like the Watts Uprisings, they were frustrated w/ their current condition and the racism that this country is embedded in. They live in oppression; they exist in a police state. When you live in the hood, there ain't much to fuck up. Although I personally love my community, there is so much poverty and struggle that I stand in solidarity w/ this type of action. However, there is so many takes on this topic, I could not sum it all up in one comment. Good looking out Parrot!

what i don't get is WHY in your own hood? They're just fucking up their backyard. Isn't this like shittin where you eat? R.I.P. Sean Bell.
